Local Dog Parks

November 12, 2016

Now that the weather is (slowly) cooling down, there’s more time for you to get out and take your dog for a walk. While you’re out and about, check out some of these local dog parks so your dog can exercise and socialize with other pooches!

Fowler Park (Cumming) – Open daily from 8AM until sunset, this park boasts a spacious off-leash, fenced in play area for your dog to enjoy. The park is 1.5 acres and has two sections; one for big dogs (over 35 pounds) and one for small dogs (under 35 pounds). As with all parks, you are responsible for picking up after your dog using the designated waste disposal areas.

Windermere Dog Park (Cumming) – Like Fowler Park, Windermere Dog Park also has separate areas for big and small dogs to play off-leash in a fenced in area. There are benches for you to sit on as well as an area for your dog to drink some water. The park is open March – October from 6AM to 9:30PM and November – February from 6AM – 7PM.

Waggy World Paw Park (Alpharetta) – Just like the above parks, Waggy World Paw Park has separate areas for large dogs (weighing more than 25 pounds) and small dogs (weighing under 25 pounds. There is plenty of shade from the trees here, along with a water spout, bowls, and a designated waste disposal area. This park is open from 6AM until sunset.

Newtown Dream Dog Park (John’s Creek) – Open from 8AM – 9PM (and closed every Wednesday from 8AM – 10AM for maintainance), this park boasts 1 acre of play space for your dog. It features separate play areas for large and small dogs, artificial turf, sprinklers for dogs to play in, obstacles, a walking trail, and water fountains for pets and their owners. There are also benches, shelters, and plenty of trees to provide shade. This park has it all and is a must-see for all pups and owners alike!

Leita Thompson Memorial Dog Park (Roswell) – This park, like the others, has separate areas for large and small dogs, and features water fountains for dogs and their owners.

There are several guidelines you need to follow at all of these parks to ensure the safety and fun of your dog and other park-goers:

Dispose of your pet’s waste promptly and properly using designated on-site disposal sites
Dogs must remain on leash when not inside the fenced in area
You must stay with your dog at all times
Children inside the fenced in areas must be accompanied and supervised by an adult
Aggressive dogs, females in heat, sick or injured dogs, and puppies under 4 months old are not permitted
No smoking
No outside food or drink (this applies to dogs and owners)
